Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Barnet Removals
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Barnet Removals has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains. Barnet Removals is committed to upholding human rights, promoting fair working conditions, and ensuring that modern slavery has no place in our organisation or in the services we provide.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Barnet Removals operates a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, bonded labour, human trafficking, servitude, and child labour. We are fully committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We expect the same high standards from everyone we work with, including employees, agency workers, subcontractors, and suppliers at every level of our supply chain.
Any indication that modern slavery may be taking place in connection with our business is treated with the utmost seriousness. Where concerns are substantiated, we will take immediate and decisive action, which may include terminating commercial relationships and reporting matters to the relevant authorities.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Barnet Removals provides removals, storage, and related services. Our supply chains include, but are not limited to, providers of packing materials, vehicle and equipment suppliers, facilities management, recruitment and labour agencies, and other service providers supporting our operations.
We recognise that some sectors and regions present higher risks of labour exploitation. We therefore seek to understand and address those risks through appropriate due diligence, supplier selection, and ongoing monitoring.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers to uphold our values and to operate in line with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights legislation. Our supplier standards require that:
All workers are employed voluntarily, with freedom of movement and the right to terminate employment in accordance with applicable laws. Workers receive fair pay, benefits, and working hours that meet or exceed legal minimum requirements. No worker is subjected to threats, coercion, deception, or abuse of vulnerability, and no identity documents are retained without free and informed consent.
To support these standards, Barnet Removals undertakes proportionate supplier due diligence and audits. This may include requesting evidence of labour practices, written policies, and risk assessments, as well as site visits where appropriate. New suppliers are screened for indicators of modern slavery risk, and existing suppliers are monitored to ensure ongoing compliance.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Barnet Removals encourages a culture of openness and accountability. We are committed to ensuring that all workers and third parties feel able to raise concerns about modern slavery or unethical practices without fear of retaliation or detriment.
Concerns can be raised with any manager within Barnet Removals or directly with senior management. Reports may include suspected cases of forced labour, human trafficking, withholding of wages, retention of passports, or any other practices that may indicate exploitation.
All reports are treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled as confidentially as possible. Where appropriate, we will cooperate fully with law enforcement and other relevant bodies. We do not tolerate victimisation of any individual who raises a concern in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We provide training and guidance to relevant staff so they can recognise the signs of modern slavery and understand how to respond appropriately. This includes managers responsible for procurement, supplier management, recruitment, and site operations. We promote awareness of modern slavery risks among our workforce and emphasise the importance of ethical conduct in all aspects of our business.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
Barnet Removals is committed to continuous improvement in our approach to tackling modern slavery. We monitor the effectiveness of our policies and procedures through periodic reviews of supplier performance, internal audits, and feedback from staff and stakeholders.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains current, effective, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. Following each review, we update our actions and priorities as needed, including enhancements to due diligence processes, training programmes, and reporting mechanisms.
This statement has been approved by the management of Barnet Removals and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
